About the Stories and My Opinion:
I recently received these books and they were great. The content was what I expected and I was not disappointed. However, be warned, the stories are indeed short, but true to the World of Harry Potter. To get a better understanding of my personal point of view on this topic, I feel it is important to recognize that I, ironically, normally do not like to read fantasy books. However, I have come to respect J. K. Rowling''s writing style and admire her desire to donate some of her profits to various charities. That being said, I, like many others, started off disliking the boy with the funny scar and his strange world the moment it hit the media, but I was without reason and factual causation. At that time, I didn''t read the books, nor watch the movie. I had no reason or support for my judgement. Later I had the comical bitter taste of eating my own words once my wife introduced me to the movies and the original book series (which she still lovingly reminds me about to this day). When reading the original book series, I began wondering what the sub-stories were that had been mentioned multiple times throughout the books. What was "The Tales of Beedle the Bard," and what captivated Harry so much about "Quidditch Through The Ages" that he would rent it from the library and sneak it out of the castle just to have Professor Snape take it away in the first main book (The Sorcerer''s Stone). Okay, I might be considered a nerd now, but guess what, now my wife and I know the answers. These book are... informative, maybe; entertaining for a quick read, definitely. Please do not make the mistake of trying to parallel these books to the originals or you may be sadly disappointed. They are rather sub-stories meant to answer the nerdy questions some of us randomly asked ourselves throughout the original series. They are fun to read while dipping your mind into a better understanding of who the people of the Harry Potter world really are. After reading these books, you can get a slightly better idea of how the characters in that literary constructed realm may think, what they are exposed to as the norm, and what ideals and books they might be introduced to growing up and in their society. Once again, I sound like a nerd, but these points are true for anyone wishing to dwell deeper in the the Harry Potter world. I definitely recommend these books to all true Harry Potter fans.
The Outer Case is protective and well made in terms of today''s book standards. The hardcover books themselves truly capture the Harry Potter Hogwarts Library feel down to the illustrated "Property of Hogwarts Library" on the lower left corner of each book. (Warning: depending on your point of view, spoilers might be included next). The delight continues with the personalization of each book, including how "Quidditch Through The Ages" has a beginning page that lists prior Hogwart''s readers and the dates they were checked out and how Harry''s "Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them" has a funny student written conversation involving "Dungbombs" on the first pages. Now if I only understood what a Dungbomb was... In either case, the fact is that these books are well made and a great product to add to your Harry Potter book collection.
This Particular Seller:
The only reason I gave this product a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating was because of the Seller. Ironically, I received this same set of books as a gift merely hours after placing the order for them. I tried to cancel the order once, and received an email notice from their company saying that they received the cancellation request and that it was being processed. Later I received a kind email from the company thanking me for my purchase and that they will be shipping the product soon. As such, I sent another cancellation request. Again I received an email stating they received the request and thanked me for my time. Ironically, later I received another email, once again thanking me for my purchase and it will be shipping shortly. After other failed attempts, I gave up. Long story short, it shipped two full business days after I placed the order even though I canceled the order 2 hours after the order was placed. I later found out that they apparently have communication issue between the order department and the shipping department. Do not take this all as bad though. They did offer a refund of the product''s cost if I shipped the product back, but after recognizing that after paying shipping both ways, that product would be best to keep and donated to the local library for others to enjoy as my family did with my first set. Amazon has been told of the companies issues in communication and made a note. Sadly, I have read other issues with this same company which is a shame via the great products they have. I have heard of orders not arriving in some posted comments, in my case, the shipping for this product did not come with any form of tracking and it took over a month to receive, so if you ordered or are thinking of ordering this product, it may require some patience on your part until the product arrives. Once again, though I had issues with my cancellation request, the company was nothing but nice to me, they just presented with communication issues.
These books are worth buying for any true Harry Potter fan, but watch out for this seller.
